Douro

The Douro is the oldest demarcated wine region in the world and still the most striking to see: schist terraces climbing hundreds of metres above the river, on slopes no machine can reach. For centuries everything here went into port. Only in recent decades has it become clear what those same old vines can do in a dry wine. Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz give reds with structure and black fruit; the whites from the higher plots are taut and mineral. We work here with Niepoort, Quinta do Vale Meão, Wine & Soul and Poeira, among others.
