Fio is the Mosel project of Dirk Niepoort and Philipp Kettern, a young winemaker from a Piesport wine family. 'Fio' is Portuguese for thread: the thread between Portugal and Germany. The Riesling comes from Piesport's steep slopes, is picked by hand and ferments slowly and spontaneously in large wooden casks.
